DitMac
Olympiad III

August 8, 1998

The third evolution of the DitMac Olympiad was grander than past years. With more teams than ever before (23) this Olympiad took far longer to complete, and we even ran out of food. However, everyone persisted and Rob Allen threw some grilled cheese sandwiches together to save the day (evening). This was also the "hottest" Olympiad to date. The temperature got up to 95 degrees that day, and there was hardly any wind!!

Some of the improvements made for this year was the cutting down of the very ugly "clothes hanging awning" thing that was out back, and putting a fresh coat of paint around the back yard area. Also, Darin upgraded his family . . . Kim was pregnant with their first baby (Thomas John Ditmar).

Lastly, we must salute our fallen comrade. The very large cactus (over 15 feet high) that was next to the back patio for every Olympiad through this one, fell over and had to be removed. It was a very good thing that it chose to fall the week AFTER the Olympiad. However, it will be missed.
